We understand that kiwiberries are new to many of you so thought it would be useful to explain a little more about this humble little superfruit. Then you can enjoy them when they are at their best….

A typical question we often get asked is – when can I eat them?  Well, they are ready to eat when they feel slightly soft to touch, just like a peach! 🍑 Just give them a gentle little squeeze to test the ripeness.

They are best enjoyed when ripened at room temperature so just leave them out of the fridge when you are ready to gobble them. If you want them to last a little longer, then store them in the fridge until you want them to ripen. Simple!

You can enjoy the whole kiwiberry straight from the pack – no peel and no fuss!!

Happy Munch’n! 😋

We are thrilled to be launching Munch’n kiwiberries into India this season. This will be the first shipment of New Zealand kiwiberry into India, as a result of a great relationship with importer Suri Agro Fresh. They have been quick to recognise a recent surge in interest for fresh berries with their consumers, and wanted to add kiwiberries to their product offering. This also compliments their range of other New Zealand produce of kiwifruit, apples and avocado.

“We’re incredibly excited to extend our New Zealand fruit range to include the kiwiberry. We work very closely with Freshmax and trust that this new addition will be well received by our customers. With the launch strengthened by a global marketing campaign it really gives us confidence to try something new” says Siddhaarth Suri, Key Account Manager at Suri Agro Fresh.

The kiwiberries will be arriving in India this week, supported across various marketing touchpoints including a strong digital & social media campaign. Stay up to date with all the latest action, via www.munchn.co.nz and @munchnkiwiberries on Facebook and Instagram.

Munch’n kiwiberries are carefully hand-picked, packed and transported to our customers around the globe every year from February to April. The 2017 season finished up in early April much quicker than we anticipated, due to heavy rain putting a halt to our harvest. We now we don’t have any kiwiberries left over……boo 🙁 But keep an eye on our countdown timer on the home page to see when Munch’n kiwiberries are back in season…..yay!

Try this healthy and colourful acai bowl recipe with a kiwiberry topping. Acai berries (pronounced ah-sai-ee) and kiwiberries both pack a nutrient punch with a whole host of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Not only are these two superfoods incredibly good for you, but they are also delicious.

Serves: 1 large or 2 small

Using frozen fruit in the acai purée helps to achieve a thick consistency, but avoid adding ice as it can water down the flavours.

INGREDIENTS:

ACAI PURÉE

  • 2 cups frozen berries (any combo)
  • 1 fresh or frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons acai berry powder
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 serving protein powder, hemp seeds or nut butter – optional

TOPPING

  • mix of fresh berries (kiwiberry, blueberry)
  • chopped melon, passionfruit, pomegranate (any fruit)
  • granola
  • toasted coconut flakes
  • chia seeds and/or hemp hearts

In a blender, place the berries, banana, acai powder, optional protein source and water/milk. Blend until smooth. Add extra water if needed (most likely you won’t need any).

Place in serving bowl and top with the suggested toppings or your favourite assortment.
